Porec at www.travel-best-destinations.com

Porec is a small town of very rich culture enriched by pleasant sunny weather, warm sea and a bunch of entertainment programs during the summer season. It is situated on the west coast of Istria, which is the biggest Croatian peninsula. Clean beaches and bays and numerous islands are the greatest symbols of Porec, and thanks to them the town itself got numerous European awards as the champion of Croatian tourism.

The biggest and most beautiful of all Porec islands, Sv. Nikola (Saint Nicholas), encloses the charming Porec port. The round tower on the island Sv. Nikola, dating from 1402, is one of the oldest lighthouses in Adriatic (not in use anymore).

Another must see is the towns old center dating back to the Romans times and having their typical camps road schematics, featuring the Euphrazius Basilica from the 6th century built in Byzantine style – a UNESCO World heritage site. Pretty amazing for a small town like this, no?

Istrian landscape around Porec is quite low and hilly, covered with luxuriant vegetation and forests of pins that often reach all the way to the sea. More than 200 villages that surround Porec have mostly retained their original istrian style – fine Mediterranean cuisine accompanied with original products of numerous vineyards and olive fields.

Sport facilities like tennis, sailing and scuba diving, cultural events, concerts and town parties will enrich the day of every visitor of this romantic town. And when the sun finally disappears behind the horizon, the feeling will be completed with delights of the remarkable istrian cuisine. For those whose days last 24 hours there are numerous bars and discotheques, as from the last summer, one of the biggest disco bars in Europe – Byblos - has been opened right in this area.
