The Lost city famous for temples ranging from single brick tower to vast stone complexes originally built between 8-13th century, is a home of a world's largest temple called Angkor Wat. It was built for King Suryavarman II in the 12th century.

Among Angkor Wat , 16 kilometers south-east from today's Siem Reap, interested ones can find one of two Khmer temples as a part of the first Khmer capital. Later on Yasovarman I founded a new capital - today's Angkor - where the majority of the bigger Khmer temples are located.

The central temple of Bakong in the form of a pyramid from the 9th century, measures an impressive 55m (180ft) along the base sides. An another example is the small Banteai Srei, which is a multi-building temple complex with the well-preserved sandstone carvings.

The Baphoun pyramid temple also features an incredible 40m(130ft) reclining Buddha carving.
Parts of the Lost City, being non restored and located in the jungle give a great romantic and mysterious aura.
