The word "matobo" means "bald head" in Matabele, and it seems like a pretty good description of this incredible place.  Influenced by wind and rain, once flat sandy and rocky place, became full of granite boulders in hundreds of shapes. They are believed to be dated some four million years ago. Still today, Matobo offers an unbelieveable art gallery, showing us precisely all the ancient species including our ancestors.

Known for many hidden caves and sacred sites, this place couldn't be called a National Park if not for having some special animal specimen around. If you bring some cooked cornmeal with you, be sure to witness the masses of lizards running out of their shelters  from under every surrounding rock to eat everything you've got. When you get fed up with rainbow-coloured lizards, prepare yourself for black mambas and 39 other snake species, black and tawny eagles, baboons, zebras, leopards, monkeys, impalas and very rare black rhinos.

And if that isn't enough for you wooded valleys, tranquil atmosphere and beautiful scenery will sure contribute you wanting to stay just a few more days longer.
